Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Two persons belonging to the upper caste allegedly thrashed three chariot pullers over giving a cc to a Dalit groom in Damoh district on Monday, the police said on Wednesday. The incident took place in Chorai village under the Jabalpur Naka police post area. It was alleged that the marriage procession of an Ahirwar groom was taken out in a chariot belonging to Rahul Rajak on Monday evening. When they were returning after the procession, accused Ratnesh Thakur stopped and thrashed them. The three victims did not approach the police and took treatment and kept quiet.

Police post in-charge Anand Ahirwar told Free Press that the accused Ratnesh Thakur is a dhaba owner and according to him the dispute happened after the trio created ruckus after drinking alcohol. The three victims Rahul Rajak, Krishna Rajak and Jagdish Ahirwar were beaten by Ratnesh and one more person, the police said. After the incident, the victims went to hospital and got treatment. When the police came to know about the incident, they were called to the police post and a complaint was filed. A case was registered and an investigation was launched.

Schools in Bhopal to open only after 9am

Amid the severe cold wave in Bhopal district, schools will be allowed to open only after 9 am. However, it has been clarified that exams will be conducted as per the pre-decided schedule. The directive was issued on Wednesday by district education officer (DEO) NK Ahirwar and applies to all government and private schools, including those affiliated with CBSE, ICSE and other boards. The new timings will come into effect from Thursday, as per the orders of collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh.
