Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The police on Sunday arrested three more men in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Vishal Chouhan, whose body was found buried near a pond in Semliya Chau village.

The development comes two days after the arrest of the prime accused, Rohit Parmar, who had allegedly killed Vishal over a personal dispute.

According to DSP (Headquarters) Umakant Choudhary, Vishal worked at a clothes shop, while his friend Rohit had expressed interest in befriending Vishal’s sister, which led to a confrontation. When Vishal objected and warned him to stay away from his sister, Rohit allegedly conspired to murder him.

On May 1, Rohit and his aide Virendra Dayma called Vishal to a pond near the village. There, Rohit allegedly shot Vishal dead and initially covered the body with soil. Two days later, he brought in two other acquaintances, Sonu and Bablu, both residents of Barotha in Dewas district, and paid them Rs 40,000 to bury the body properly in a pit near the pond to avoid detection.

Suspicion fell on Rohit during the investigation, and he was detained. Upon interrogation, he reportedly confessed to the murder and revealed that he had thrown the firearm into the pond. Based on his statement, police recovered Vishal’s body.

Since the recovery, police had been actively searching for the three remaining suspects – Virendra, Sonu and Bablu. They were arrested from different locations on Saturday night following a series of raids.

Choudhary confirmed that Rohit remains in police custody until Monday, and efforts are underway to recover the firearm used in the crime from the pond.
