Pune City Traffic Police’s ‘Ridiculous’ Reply On X Leaves Netizens Fuming: ‘Thought It Was A Parody Account’ | File Photo
An X (formerly Twitter) user, Nachiket Deshpande, who highlights traffic issues plaguing Pune on the microblogging site, tagged Pune City Traffic Police on Monday evening and asked them to take action against a motorbike with an incomplete number plate. He pointed out that if an accident were caused by this vehicle, it would be difficult to trace it without the full number on the plate.
Deshpande wrote, “MH12 100 – That’s the number on this vehicle’s rear plate. The front plate only says ‘Shambhuraje’. How is @CPPuneCity to trace this vehicle if it crushes someone on road or the rider snatches chains? @PuneCityTraffic please trace this vehicle & take action. Location: Fountain Road, Kharadi, Pune.”
Within a few minutes, the official X handle of the Pune City Traffic Police replied to Deshpande’s post: “No action can be taken as the complete number of the vehicle is not there.”
Deshpande then commented, “That’s the whole complaint, sir. The full number is not even mentioned on the plate & yet such vehicles are blatantly blessing our roads. Can’t you track how many RE (Royal Enfield) Classic motorcycles with MH12 would have a number 100?”
Meanwhile, Pune City Traffic Police’s “ridiculous” response, without even seemingly trying to investigate, left netizens fuming.
“Sums up the approach of Pune authorities towards common citizens in one tweet response,” commented one user.
Another user wrote, “Oh my god!! Have some shame! Are you there to complain or to resolve ours?”
“At first instance, I thought this is a parody account,” a third user said.
A fourth user added, “This is about as ridiculous a response as possible from a law enforcement agency. Just brilliant.”
