Many rumors are spreading about this, but let’s know what the truth is.
UIDAI i.e. the Unique Identification Authority of India has clarified that there is no expiration date of Aadhaar card. It remains valid for a lifetime and does not need to update it periodically. However, it is mandatory to update Aadhaar card of children of certain age.
When can the Aadhaar card be invalid?
The Aadhaar card is usually not invalid, but there is also a situation when it can be invalid. When making Aadhaar cards for children under 5 years of age, it is mandatory to update it at the age of 5. Then it is necessary to re -update at the age of 15. If this process is not completed then the Aadhaar card of children is considered invalid. This update changes children’s fingerprints, iris scans and photos so that their identity is clear in the future.
Why is it necessary to update the card?
UIDAI has clarified that even if a person does not update his Aadhaar card even after 10 years, he will remain valid. However, it is advisable to update it to avoid any inconvenience in the future. The process can be completed by visiting any Aadhaar service center to update Aadhaar.
The process of updating the children’s Aadhaar is free. The government has completely made the Aadhaar update completely free for children.
