Suzan Mutesi, a 38-year-old actor and writer, has been on a quest for love for the past eight years. Her journey has seen her go on over 1,000 first dates, earning her the title of a serial dater. Despite her relentless efforts, Mutesi often finds herself disappointed with the men she meets.
In her early 30s, Mutesi would go on at least three dates a week. These days, that number has reduced to one date per week. She spends much of her free time on dating apps, updating her profile photos, or watching rom-coms. “If I’m not on a date, on the apps, taking some new photos to update my profile, or watching a rom-com, chances are I will be out with my friends – and conversation will be about our latest dates,” she explained.
Love doesn’t walk to you in the comfort of your home
Mutesi is someone who doesn’t leave things to fate alone. “I knew love was out there, and I wasn’t going to get it sitting at home in my pajamas – I had to go out there and get it,” she mentioned. Interestingly, one reason she chooses to go on dates is because she doesn’t feel like cooking. Her dating experiences have also led her to adopt a practical method for breakups. She sends an automated message to the men she decides not to pursue further, which reads: “Hey, thank you so much for a great time, I just want to let you know it didn’t work out, but it was nice getting to know you.”
Meorable dating moments
Mutesi’s dating journey has been anything but dull. On one occasion, a man brought another woman along in hopes of having a threesome. On another, a man managed to set a cooking pan on fire. Despite these challenges, Mutesi remains optimistic and continues to search for her Mr. Right. “I want my fairytale ending, I want to meet the one and get married,” she shared with PA Real Life.
In college, Mutesi had a four-year relationship with a man in his 30s. The couple eventually parted ways to focus on their careers. Since then, she has remained determined to find love. A forever optimist, she enjoys doing makeup and dressing in couture to increase her chances of meeting the right person.
An inspiration to people seeking love
Mutesi’s experiences have inspired her to write a book called Love Beyond 30s. The book aims to encourage women over 30 to keep looking for love until they find it. “I want to inspire others to believe that love is out there,” Mutesi says. Her story is a testament to perseverance and hope in the search for love.
If you are someone who has given up on chances of finding your ‘the one’ Mutesi can be an inspiration for you to keep going and be optimistic about living your dreamy moment.
