New Secretary of BCCI: Jai Shah has become the chairman of ICC. He assumes office in December 2024. After Jay Shah became the ICC Chairman, his post in the Board of Control for Cricket in India has become vacant. After Jai Shah, Devjit Saikia may get the responsibility of the post of Secretary. According to a report, he is leading in this race. Saikia is currently holding the post of interim secretary. Therefore Prabhatej Singh Bhatia can be elected Treasurer.
Actually, after the removal of Jai Shah, Saikia was made the interim secretary. He is a first class cricketer. Saikia comes from Assam. He has played CK Nayudu Trophy for Assam. Along with this, he was also in Sourav Ganguly’s team. Ganguly and Saikia have played for East Zone. He made his debut in Ranji Trophy in 1991. Now Saikia is on the board. He became the joint secretary of BCCI in 2019.
Along with Saikia, Anil Patel’s name from Gujarat is also being discussed for the post of BCCI Secretary. So Rohan Jaitley’s name is also included in this list. But Rohan is on the post of Chairman of DDCA. Therefore he will not enter BCCI. Talking about the post of Treasurer, Prabhatej Singh Bhatia may get the responsibility. He is in Chhattisgarh Cricket Association.
The special thing is that at present the President of BCCI is Roger Binny. So Ajit Agarkar is the chief selector of the men’s cricket team. Jai Shah was the secretary. But now he has become the chairman of ICC. Therefore his place is vacant. Team India is currently on Australia tour. Where the fifth and last test match of the series will be played from Friday.
