The story of Varun Chakraborty reaching here is interesting. Born on 29 August 1991 in Bidar, Karnataka, Varun Chakraborty started playing cricket at the age of just 13. But he quit cricket at the age of 17.

Dreamed of becoming an architect

Varun Chakraborty had his early education from Kendriya Vidyalaya CLRI and St. Patrick Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School, Chennai. Cricket lover Varun Chakraborty had distanced himself from cricket at the age of 17. He also decided to become an architect. Varun Chakraborty earned a degree in architecture from SRM University, Tamil Nadu. After the ICC tournament match, Varun Chakraborty said, “I started cricket very late. I returned to the cricket field at the age of 26. Earlier, my dream was to become architect and make films.

 

Cricket resumed in 2015.

After starting his career as an architect, Varun’s interest turned to cricket again. He started his cricket career as a medium fast bowler for the Crombest Cricket Club in 2015, but had to retire from the game due to a knee injury. However, he did not give up and tried his hand in spin bowling. Playing for Madurai Panthers at Tamil Nadu Premier League 2018, he impressed everyone with his aggressive spin. Varun’s hard work paid off when he made his List a cricket debut in the 2018-19 Vijay Hazare Trophy and became the bowler to take the highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 22 wickets in nine matches.

Admission to IPL in 2019
