Actress Nyrraa M Banerji, recognised for her roles in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Hindi films, recently competed on Bigg Boss 18. Known for her multi-lingual film career, Nyrraa stands out for her approach to the reality show, aiming to win through compassion rather than aggression. In an exclusive interview with The Free Press Journal, she shares her journey on Bigg Boss 18, discussing the challenges she faced and how her experience in diverse film industries shaped her acting style. Nyrraa reflects on her growth as an actor and expresses gratitude for the love and support from her audience. Excerpts:
Q. What made you decide to participate in Bigg Boss?
A. I don’t think it was anything specific, to be honest. The show had been offered to me many times in the past. Having said that, the show needed a certain timeline or commitment in case one makes it till the end. Earlier, I didn’t have the bandwidth in terms of workload and time to fit that. This time, things fell into place, and I am glad it did work out. I enjoyed my experience there, and the audience too showed love. I am grateful.
Q. How did your career in Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada films shape your acting style?
A. Oh, tremendously and in a huge way, it has shaped me as an actor. The language was initially a barrier, and I had to do my bit to learn the languages to the best way possible. Different regional industries symbolize different film industry cultures and ways of working. I love the discipline and professionalism down South, and no wonder, it has helped me understand more nuances and layers about my personality that have made me better in my craft.
Q. What role in television has been the most challenging for you?
A. Well, every role that I have played on-screen on TV has had its own challenges. Divya Dristi was challenging, and so was Pishachini. I guess that’s the best part about being an actor. You look forward to challenges in order to do your best and conquer them. I hope I was able to do that with my shows on TV so far, and hopefully with more going forward.
Q. What upcoming projects are you excited about?
A. Well, there are some interesting and exciting developments taking place at my end. However, it’s too early to reveal anything soon. Once the right time comes, the update will be out.
Q. Can you share any memorable experiences from working in the entertainment industry?
A. Well, this is the industry where I have always wanted to work since childhood. This has been my dream, passion, and everything. I am a self-made personality, and whatever I have earned today is a result of the consistent efforts I have put in. So, for me, every moment in my journey has been a memorable experience, and I look forward to working harder, working with the best in the business to make my true potential count. Be it my films, TV shows, reality shows, music videos, or anything else, I have thoroughly enjoyed everything. Grateful to my audience for all the love so far.
