Washington : America’s Trump administration has implemented a new rule for immigrants. This new rule will affect all foreign nationals. Under these new rules, H-1B work visa, student visa or green card holders will now have to keep their legal documents with them 24 hours. This new rule will be applicable from 11 April 2025. This rule of the US Trump administration aims to take action against the citizens living illegally in the US.
An American court has allowed the government to implement this rule. As a result, migrants will now have to register with the government and keep all the documents with them. It is considered to be another major step in Trump’s rules to take out illegal immigrants from the country. This new rule has been made on the basis of the rules of the “Alien Registration Act” of 1940. These rules were not implemented earlier. However, under the control of Trump, this implementation is going to be more strict now.
Under this new rule, foreign nationals who stay in the United States for more than 30 days will have to fill the form G-325R. This rule will be applied to people living illegally in the United States illegally or without legitimate documents. This rule will be applicable after April 11, after which action will be taken against anyone who live or enter the United States illegally. The person may be fined six months in jail or up to US $ 5,000. Parents will have to register for children below 14 years of age. Registration has been made mandatory within 30 days of reaching the United States.
H-1B visa and new rules for green card holders
H-1B visas and green card holders will not be required to register. They are exempted from the registration process as their registration will be considered official. However, Indian and other foreign nationals studying on visas will have to keep copies of their legitimate documents with them all the time. This includes passports, visas, I-94 forms and green cards.
There are about 5.4 million Indians in the US, out of which about 2.2 lakh citizens are living illegally. Therefore, the Indian community also needs to take proper precautions in implementing these new rules.
