Yamunanagar district of Haryana is going to get a big energy project. A new unit of 800 MW will now be set up at Deenbandhu Sir Chhotu Ram Thermal Power Plant. With this new expansion, the total production capacity of the plant will reach 1400 MW, which will not only help to overcome the power crisis of the state, but will also bring new employment opportunities for the youth.

Now 300+300+800 = 1400 MW

Currently, this power plant has two units of 300-300 MW, which are producing a total of 600 MW of electricity so far. But after adding a new unit of 800 MW, this capacity will be more than doubled. This will prove to be a big step towards meeting Haryana’s electricity needs.

Foundation stone will be held on 14 April, preparations will be in full swing

The foundation stone of this new unit will be laid on 14 April 2025, the district administration is fully active regarding the preparations. DC Partha Gupta himself visited the plant and reviewed the preparations. It is expected that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Manohar Lal may also attend the event, although it has not been officially confirmed yet.

A new unit will be based on ‘Make in India’

The special feature of the new unit is that it will be completely based on indigenous technology and will be prepared under the ‘Make in India’ campaign. Its construction will also show the country’s technical efficiency and self -reliance.

6000 crores cost, two and a half times more investment than the previous unit

There will be an investment of about ₹ 6000 crore on this unit, which is about two and a half times more than the earlier 600 MW unit. This will not only create a technical modern unit, but it will also speed up regional development.

Employment opportunities and local development

The expansion of the power plant will not only increase power generation, but thousands of jobs related to its construction, operation and supply will also be released. There will be a huge demand for technical, non-technical, administrative and support personnel. This will also increase economic activities in Yamunanagar and surrounding areas rapidly.

Haryana’s energy strong steps towards self -sufficiency

The state government is constantly making efforts to become self -sufficient in the energy sector. These new units in Yamunanagar will not only help in meeting the energy needs of Haryana, but will also be able to supply electricity to other states.
