Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam addressed recent media reports about an alleged stone-pelting incident at his LIVE concert at Delhi Technological University (DTU). Taking to social media, the singer clarified that there was no such attack involving stones or bottles, as reported by some media outlets.

Sharing pictures from the concert on Instagram, Sonu revealed that only a vape was thrown at him by someone from the crowd after which he requested the students to enjoy the show and not throw things on stage.

He wrote, “Nothing like hurling of stones or bottles as mentioned in some media happened at DTU. There was one vape thrown by someone on stage that hit Subhankar’s chest and that’s when I was informed about it. I paused the show and requested and reminded the collegians that the show will have to be abruptly stopped if something like that happened again.”

The singer also revealed that someone threw a pink hairband on stage which he immediately wore during his performance. He called the band ‘pookie’, a term used to describe something cute or adorable.

“The only thing hurled on stage after that, was the Pookie band. Which was really Pookie,” Sonu added.

This post of Sonu comes after several reports suggested that his concert at DTU turned chaotic, forcing him to stop mid-performance due to unruly behaviour from the audience. A report in Hindustan Times claimed that over one lakh students had gathered for the event, and some attendees allegedly threw stones and plastic bottles at the singer.

Reportedly, he also addressed the crowd, urging them to behave. “Main aapke liye aaya hoon yahan pe so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please aisa na kariye (I have come here for you so that we can all have a good time. I’m not asking you to not enjoy, but please don’t do this),” he said.

The report further mentioned that the singer was particularly concerned for his team members’ safety and warned that they could be injured if the crowd continued throwing objects onto the stage.

Despite the brief disruption, Sonu resumed his performance once the situation was under control.
