According to the toi report, a few months ago a pet cow was bitten by a mad dog, causing the cow to rabies. About two months ago, this infected cow gave birth to the calf. The first milk (sort) of the cow was traditionally divided into the locality. The veterinarian conducted an inquiry when the cow’s health deteriorated, in which the rabies was confirmed. After this, the doctor advised that all the people who drink this cow’s milk should get rabies vaccine immediately.

The owner of the cow and some of his family members got vaccinated, but a woman named Seema living in the neighborhood did not get vaccinated. A few days later, Seema’s health started deteriorating. He was rushed to a local hospital, from where he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. Rabies infection was confirmed there, but he could not be saved despite treatment.
Abnormal methods of rabies transmission
The rabies usually spread by the bite of an infected animal, but in this case the source of infection was the raw milk of the infected cow. According to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), drinking raw milk of rabies infected with rabies is at risk of infection. Therefore, the milk of the infected animal should be boiled and drunk.
