Pahalgam attack: The National Commission for Women (NCW) has strongly objected to the ongoing trolling on social media about the statement of Himanshi Narwal, wife of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, an Indian Navy officer who lost his life in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The Commission said, “It is not acceptable for any woman to target her thoughts or personal life under any circumstances.”
‘We just want peace’
According to reports, Himanshi made an emotional appeal while talking to the media for the first time after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. He said, ‘I just want the whole country to pray for Vinay, wherever he is, it should be peaceful and one more thing, I see that people are spreading hatred against Muslims and Kashmiris. We do not want this. We just want peace, only peace. ‘
After this statement by Himanshi, he was trolled on social media. Many people criticized his peace message and targeted him. Reacting to this, the National Commission for Women wrote on the social media platform ‘X’, ‘After the death of Lieutenant Vinay Narwalji, the way she is being targeted on social media due to the statement made by his wife Himanshi Narwalji is extremely condemnable and regrettable.’ It is unacceptable to troll any woman on the basis of her thoughts or personal life.
NCW further wrote, ‘Every citizen has constitutional right to express or disagree with his views, but it should always be done within the limits of decency and dignity.’ The Commission assured that it is committed to the dignity and security of every woman.
