Waqf Bill: Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) state general secretary Shahjeb Rizvi has resigned from his post unhappy with the support of the party. He announced this by releasing a video and stunned party president Jayant Chaudhary, saying, “He has gone astray.” Muslims supported Jayant Chaudhary openly, but they did not do justice to the community.
Rizvi alleged that, “Jayant Chaudhary has deviated from the path of secularism and now his policies are against the interests of the community.” Muslims voted for a large number of Jayant Chaudhary, but instead of standing with us, they supported the Waqf Bill. Which is against our feelings and rights. ‘
‘He cheated Muslims’
Rizvi also said in his video, “The parties which the Muslims supported and brought them to the mainstream, today the same parties are supporting the laws made against them.” Taking a special name of Jayant Chaudhary, he said, “The leaders who call themselves secular have cheated Muslims today.” 10 MLAs of Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) were elected in western Uttar Pradesh, in which Muslims had a major contribution. The Muslims had unanimously voted and strengthened this party, but now when they need it, the party did not support them.
Principles should not be compromised.
He also said, “Governments will come and go, but principles should not be compromised.” It is not right to wander from the path shown by Chaudhary Charan Singh. Muslims were confident that this party would raise his voice for their rights, but now they are feeling cheated.
Apart from this, he also attacked leaders like Nitish Kumar, Chandrababu Naidu and Pappu Yadav, saying, “These leaders call themselves secular, but when Muslims need them, they become silent.”
Rizvi opposed this new law and said that this law will end the brotherhood in the society, which is not good for the country. And I am resigning from the Rashtriya Lok Dal, because if the party is not standing with me, it is better to leave it. I also appeal to the Muslims to make a decision wisely during the election and do not trust those who cheat them.
Controversy over Waqf Bill
Significantly, there was already dissatisfaction among many Muslim organizations regarding the Waqf bill, but after the support of RLD, there are also voices of protest inside the party. Many Muslim leaders of the party have also resigned after Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party JDU supported the Waqf Bill.
So far 5 JDU leaders have resigned.
1. Mohammad Shahnawaz Mohammed, State Secretary of Minorities Association
2. State General Secretary Mohammed. Tabariz Alig.
3. Party member from Bhojpur, Mo. Dilshan Raina.
4. Former concern Mohammad Qasim Ansari broke away from the party.
