The National Conference (NC) leader and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has launched a scathing attack on the central government, saying that the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir is not naturally normal, but has been forcefully implemented. He rejected the central government’s claim, which after the removal of Article 370 was said to be “normal status” in Kashmir.

Forced situation imposed: Omar Abdullah

During a media program in Delhi, Omar Abdullah said that if the situation was really normal, this situation would have been permanent, but the forced imposed situations could not last long. He claimed that the security forces and the general public also do not trust this “generality”.

Question on closing Jamia Mosque

Abdullah also expressed concern about law and order in the Kashmir Valley and criticized the historic Jamia Mosque in Srinagar on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat. They said,
“If the government feels that the situation is normal, then they do not stop Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from teaching their father -in -law prayers. The administration cited law and order, but if everything was normal, this situation would not have arisen. ”

Omar Abdullah on Article 370?

After removing Article 370 in 2019, Jammu and Kashmir was made a union territory, giving more administrative powers to the Lieutenant Governor. On this, Abdullah said that the administrative system cannot run for long.

Significantly, in recent times, Abdullah’s stance has appeared soft towards the central government. He earlier showed some softening on his old demand to restore the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and said that “he is not so mindless to expect the restoration of Article 370”.

The ground reality of Kashmir is different?

Omar Abdullah, referring to the unrest of 2010, said that more than 200 youths died during protests in Kashmir. He claimed that the central government is constantly promoting that the strikes and separatist activities have decreased after Article 370 removed, but the ground reality is different from it.

It is clear from his statement that political debate about the situation in Kashmir is still going on and questions are being raised on the claims of the central government.
