Today, we are living in a world where there are frequent systems breakdowns, be it an economic system breakdown or a social or political breakdown, and especially the once harmonious system of Mother Nature. These breakdowns bring with them a lot of inconvenience and misery in our lives, and hence one can’t help but ask: Why is this happening?
As we research and discuss the many reasons, ultimately, we realise that the answer to this “why” is ‘WE’. Yes! It is We who are actually responsible for what is happening around us, but, unfortunately, we cannot do much for all the different systems that are in upheaval. Because, if we wish to put them right, then we need to rediscover ourselves and put our original inner system in the right direction.
In other words, when the system of our thoughts, feelings and attitudes are truly connected to their original spiritual base, i.e., the soul, then the economic, social, political, and even environmental systems work effectively. Remember! Governance on the outside cannot be respectful and honest until this inner governance takes place.
When we start to govern our way of thinking and understanding, when we start to fix our inner system, then with that consciousness solutions can be found for our external dysfunctional systems.
For example, when our consciousness is awakened to the original value of generosity, then greed, with its rush of grabbing, possessing, and hoarding starts to diminish in our relationships with people and resources.
Habitual actions based on greed create many insecurities, which in turn create a society based on selfish and fearful interaction, which in time damages the respect and harmony of the systems of society and nature.
In modern society, where we live today, to fix a situation, people create a system of checks and balances in an effort to make systems more transparent, more accountable, and truer. However, if the individual within that system has not awakened his or her inner value system, then he puts his energy into subverting those checks and balances.
Spiritual awareness means that the inner system of the original eternal self is so powerful that he or she has his own checks and balances and pays personal attention not to transgress the rights of others or the integrity of a task. Spiritual knowledge, when truly used and personally practised, enables all systems to work naturally and harmoniously, thereby creating a quality lifestyle, quality society and a new world where there is no violence and selfishness.
