Delhi, : Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Thursday that the day is not far when India will not only emerge as a developed country but its military strength will also be at the top in the world. He said that India’s defense production is expected to be more than Rs 1.60 lakh crore this year and a target is to make military equipment worth Rs 3 lakh crore by 2029.
Rajnath said that India will reduce its dependence on import of defense equipment and create a defense industrial ecosystem, which will not only meet the needs of the country but also strengthen its defense export capabilities. Our defense exports should reach Rs 30,000 crore and Rs 50,000 crore by 2029 this year. The purpose of India’s growing defense capabilities is not to incite dispute and conflict. India’s defense capabilities are establishing it as a prominent player in a reliable preventive and international defense ecosystem to maintain peace and stability in the region.
The country’s military strength consists of about 14.55 lakh active soldiers in the army, while 11.55 lakh reserve soldiers. Apart from this, there are 25.27 lakh paramilitary personnel. The Indian Army has thousands of tanks, artillery, missiles and armored vehicles. T-90 Bhishma and Arjun Tank are the main strength of the Indian Army.
The Indian Air Force has a total of 2,229 aircraft, including 53 fighter aircraft, 899 helicopters and 831 assistant aircraft. Fighter aircraft such as Rafael and Sukhoi-30 MKI strengthen the fire capabilities of the Indian Air Force.
The Indian Navy has 1,42,251 soldiers. The Navy also has strategic weapons such as nuclear submarines and aircraft carrots. The Indian Navy has about 150 warships and submarines. Currently more than 50 warships and submarines are under construction.
