IPL 2025: The current champion of the IPL Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore in the first match of the season on Saturday. The program of the inauguration ceremony has also been decided. In which artists like Disha Patani and Shreya Ghoshal will perform.
However, a shocking news has come out from Kolkata just a day before the opening ceremony. The first match of this season is in danger of a complete cancellation as the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert.
The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms and rain in South Bengal from Thursday to Sunday. Orange alert has been issued for the match to be held on 22 March on the first day of IPL 2025, while Yellow Alert has been issued for Sunday.
According to Aqueder, Kolkata has a 74% probability of rain on Saturday, while the possibility of cloudy is 97%. The possibility of rain in the evening will increase by 90%. Therefore, it is almost certain that the Eden Gardens will receive heavy rain on the first day of the 18th season of IPL. Will KKR and RCB be able to play enough overs to bring results? It is difficult to say this right now.
In fact, a match at the Eden Gardens is already being re -determined. CAB (Bangladesh Cricket Association) president Snehashish Ganguly had earlier said that the domestic match of Knight Riders against Lucknow Super Giants on April 6 is scheduled to be transferred to Guwahati, as the police have expressed their inability to provide security for the IPL match due to the Ram Navami ceremony in the city that day.
BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari announced that more than 20,000 processions are being taken out in West Bengal to celebrate the festival. Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) president Ganguly said, “We have informed the BCCI to re -determining the match, but there is no need to revive the match in the city and now I am coming to hear that this match is being transferred to Guwahati.”
