Dhamtari, 27 November (HIST). The s.tation system in Dhamtari city has been badly affected due to the strike of placement employees. Garbage is spreading at different places in the city, which has increased the problems of the people. People have appealed to the Municipal Corporation to improve the cleanliness system.
In 40 wards of Dhamtari city, cleanliness is done with the help of regular and placement employees of the Municipal Corporation. Garbage collection is also done by women’s groups. Cleanliness is carried out in Dhamtari city by dividing 40 wards into nine zones. These days, placement employees are on strike for various demands. Due to the strike, the cleanliness system of Dhamtari city has been adversely affected. At present, garbage is not being collected from many places on time, due to which the nearby residents are facing a lot of problems. Garbage is being dumped in the empty space near Ratnabandha Chowk Golden Car Shringar for a long time. Due to garbage not being collected on time, there is a situation of filth here. Due to strong wind, the garbage spread here gets blown up to the National Highway.
Shrikant Dewangan said that this situation persists due to lack of cleanliness maintained by the Municipal Corporation. The dog has been lying dead here for three days. Due to which the residents around the shop are worried. Sujit Kumar Sahu, Pawan Dewangan told that garbage is not collected on time. It is known that similar situation exists in other places of the city, from where garbage is not being collected on time. People have demanded improvement in the system. According to the information, 10 tonnes of garbage is generated every day from all the 40 wards of the corporation area, which is lying in the drains and in the open due to the strike. Even cle.ng is not being done. Nearby people are troubled by the gurgling drains and the foul smell of the drains.
Efforts to improve the system are ongoing: Commissioner
In this regard, Municipal Corporation Dhamtari Commissioner Priya Goyal said that the s.tation system has definitely been affected due to the strike of placement employees, but efforts are on to improve the system, the system will be rectified soon. The contractor has been given a notice and warned to provide the staff immediately. If employees are not provided as per the contract, action will be taken as per rules. Situation of cleanliness in Municipal Corporation: Placement of cle.ng staff – 150, expenditure on cle.ng every month – around Rs 35 lakh, female cle.ng staff – 160. At the same time, 398 workers of the district are involved in the strike.
