The Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA), in association with Dream Sports successfully conducted its Free Summer Camp at Azad Maidan from April 16 to 30, 2025. Continuing a legacy of over 50 years, this year’s edition stood out by placing equal emphasis on the mental and physical well-being of young athletes.
The camp offered hands-on training in Football, Basketball, and Tennis to 305 boys and girls, aged between 8 and 14 years. In a progressive move, MSSA introduced a sports psychology component to the program, aiming to nurture not just future champions on the field, but resilient, focused, and mentally agile individuals.
To lead this initiative, renowned sports psychologist Mugdha Bavare was brought on board. With her vast experience in working with elite athletes and grassroots programs alike, Bavare conducted sessions that addressed focus, motivation, emotional regulation, and confidence-building.
“We believe in the power of grassroots development,” said MSSA Football Secretary Sebastian Fernandes. “By encouraging both boys and girls to participate, we are not just creating players—we are building the future of Indian sport. Today’s young athletes need to be equipped mentally as well, and that’s why we brought in Ms. Bavare, to ensure they receive holistic training.”
With the strong support of Dream Sports, the MSSA Summer Camp 2024-2025 continues to uphold its mission of making sports accessible, inclusive, and future-ready for Mumbai’s youth.
