THDC India Limited (THDCIL), a leading Power Sector PSU, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) and Government of Chhattisgarh, for the development of a 1400 MW Pump Storage Based Hydro Electric Power Project at Dangari, District Jashpur. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was exchanged at Hotel Courtyard by Marriott, Raipur, in the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Deo Sai Ji, and Amitabh Jain, Chief Secretary, Chhattisgarh.
R.K. Vishnoi, Chairman & Managing Director, THDCIL, conveyed that THDCIL is committed to providing clean, affordable, and sustainable power to the nation. He emphasized that Pumped Storage projects play a crucial role in balancing renewable energy generation, ensuring Grid Stability, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. This strategic partnership is a significant step towards strengthening Renewable Energy Infrastructure in the state, enhancing Grid Stability, and supporting India’s clean energy transition.
Vishnoi further highlighted that the Dangari PSP will generate employment opportunities and create a positive Socio-Economic impact in the region. This project is a testament to THDCIL’s vision of expanding its Renewable Energy portfolio and strengthening India’s Energy Security. On behalf of the Government of Chhattisgarh, the MoU was signed by Subodh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary, Energy Department, Govt. of Chhattisgarh, on the behalf of CSPGCL, Sanjeev Kumar Katiyar, Managing Director, and Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical) on the behalf of THDC India Limited.
Bhupender Gupta, Director (Technical), THDCIL, stated that THDCIL has been actively developing Pumped Storage Projects (PSPs) across the country, and this project is another milestone in its journey towards a sustainable energy future. Pumped storage technology is a proven solution for Energy Storage and Power demand management. The Dangari PSP will utilize surplus power during off-peak hours to pump water and generate electricity during peak demand, ensuring efficient energy utilization. THDCIL is committed to executing the project with the highest standards of engineering excellence and State-of-Art technologies.
During the MoU Exchange ceremony, on behalf of the Government of Chhattisgarh, Subodh Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary & Secretary (Energy); Mukesh Kumar Bansal, Secretary to CM (Finance); P Dayanand, Secretary to CM; and Rajat Kumar, Secretary (Commerce & Industry) were present. SK Mishra, Regional ED, NTPC, also attended the event. Representing THDCIL, Neeraj Verma, CGM-Incharge (NCR Unit), Sanjiv Kumar Mittal, AGM (PSP-Solar) and Devyesh Kumar Srivastava Asstt. Manager (PSP-Solar) were also present.
