Thane: The Thane traffic police have issued a traffic advisory in connection with the procession for Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14. The traffic restrictions will be in effect from 6 PM on April 14 until midnight. During this time, the entry of vehicles will be restricted on various routes.
The Thane Traffic Police shared information on Wednesday via X regarding the upcoming celebrations for Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti. A Manavandana Karikram will take place at Courtnaka and Thane Railway Station West, with processions occurring along the route from Courtnaka to Thane Railway Station.

A significant number of people are expected to attend. Due to these processions, the route from Courtnaka to Thane Railway Station is likely to be crowded. To ensure smooth and safe traffic flow in the area and to prevent traffic jams. Thane City Deputy Commissioner of Police, Pankaj Shirsat, on behalf of the Government of Maharashtra, urges everyone to plan accordingly.
G.P.O. Access Closed (General Post Office):
All types of vehicles heading to Thane Railway Station via Kadun Court Naka will be unable to access the G.P.O. area.
Alternative Route: Vehicles will be diverted left from G.P.O. via Central Maidan Road, then proceed via Thane Jail, Kick Naka, Dadoji Konddev Stadium, and A One Furniture to reach their destination.
Urjita Hotel to Courtnaka Closed:
Vehicles traveling from Kik Naka via Urjita Hotel to Courtnaka will be restricted at Urjita Hotel.
Alternative Route: Vehicles from Urjita Hotel will take a right turn in front of Central Jail and head towards G.P.O., following the designated route to the destination.
Mus Chowk Access Closed:
All buses, STs, rickshaws, and small four-wheelers coming from Thane Railway Station towards Towermaka/Tembhinaka will be closed off at Mus Chowk.
Alternative Route for Buses: ST buses coming from Thane Railway Station will travel via Santis Bridge, Gokhale Road, and Harinivas to reach their destination.
Alternative Route for Rickshaws and Four-Wheelers: Vehicles will take a left turn from under Santis Bridge via Station Road, Mus Chowk, and continue to their destination.
Parking Restrictions:
Parking of vehicles is prohibited on both sides of the road from Courtnaka to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue, Jambli Naka, Shivaji Path, Agyari Lane, Mus Chowk, and Punjab Alok Hotel, including the Masunda Lake area.
This traffic advisory will be in effect from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM on April 14, 2025, and will not apply to police vehicles, fire brigade, ambulances, or other essential service vehicles.
