Thane Municipal Corporation Discontinues 27 Illegal Water Connections In Mumbra & Diva | X|@TMCaTweetAway
Mumbai: With the onset of summer and peak in demand for water, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has launched a drive against illegal water connections in Mumbra and Diva. TMC disconnected 27 illegal water connections in these areas on Thursday as part of an ongoing drive against unauthorised connections. On the second day of the drive, two additional cases were also filed related to illegal water tanker filling activities. The investigation and process of filing case against 27 illegal water connections was under process.
The TMC Municipal Water Supply Department in a post on X (formerly Twirtter) on Thursday, highlighted their efforts to target unauthorised tap connections and illegal water tanker filling stations in both Diva and Mumbra. Over last two days, a total of 56 unauthorised tap connections were severed, and three illegal water tanker filling stations were dismantled.
Under its drive against illegal water connections, 11 pumps have been confiscated, and two people have been booked for the unauthorised connections in the city. The action was taken under the guidance of the Additional Commissioner Prashant Rode and Municipal Engineer Prashant Sonagra as directed by Municipal Commissioner Sourabharao.
KDMC Cracks Down On Illegal Water Connections
The Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has also initiated a drive targeting illegal pipeline connections that were supplying unauthorised water to buffalo stables in Kalyan’s Bail Bazaar area.
Officials stated that a team, led by Anita Pardeshi, the City Engineer of KDMC, carried out the operation under the guidance of KDMC Chief Dr Indu Rani Jakhar.
On Thursday, KDMC officials uncovered 65 illegal connections that had been illegally tapped from the main water pipeline. These connections were created by drilling holes and inserting pipes to reroute water to the buffalo stables in the area.
