Electric carmaker Tesla Inc has laid off several employees in a battery production unit at its Shanghai plant, Bloomberg reported on Friday, citing sources familiar with the matter. However, the company has not given any clarification regarding the number of employees laid off. Along with this, it has been said in the report that no specific reason has been revealed behind this retrenchment. Tesla also did not comment on this.

First of all, a report was published by the local online news portal Deep Analysis regarding this retrenchment. It said that less than 1,000 workers were serving the factory’s two battery production lines. Tesla’s Giga Factory in Shanghai is the largest and most productive plant in the world. In which about 20 thousand employees are employed. This includes active workers in the Model Y and Model 3 assembly buildings.
