Mohammed Shami: The 5-match T20 series between India and England is going to start from January 22. The first match of the series will be played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Before the match, Indian players have started practicing. During this time, everyone’s eyes were on Mohammed Shami, who was returning to the team after 14 months. Shami played his last match for India in the 2023 World Cup final. Returning to the team, Shami bowled in excellent rhythm for more than an hour.

Took part in fielding practice

However, with a heavy bandage on his left knee, Shami initially bowled slowly with short run-ups and then picked up the pace with full run-ups under the supervision of bowling coach Morne Morkel. After bowling for about an hour, he also took part in fielding practice.

There was doubt about Shami’s fitness. He has allayed all concerns by troubling young batsmen like Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Verma with his pace and precise line length. Meanwhile, wicketkeeper batsman Dhruv Jurel played some aggressive shots against him. After completing bowling practice, Shami talked to bowling coach Morne Morkel. The only moment when Shami looked a little unwell was when he limped to the changing room, but he was soon back on the field.

Shami’s fitness is important for India’s plans

Shami’s inclusion in the T20 squad is an important step as the team looks to strengthen its pace attack ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy starting in Dubai and Pakistan on February 19. While Jasprit Bumrah’s injury status is still unclear, Shami’s fitness is crucial to India’s plans.

After returning from domestic cricket, Shami has made a place in the national team. He also participated in Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and then Vijay Hazare ODI Trophy.
