Ceasefire talks continue amid tensions between Israel and Hamas in Gaza. On the other hand, due to American mediation in Lebanon, a 60-day ceasefire is in force between the Israeli Army and Hezbollah. Although some isolated incidents were reported in the initial days, life is slowly returning to normal in many parts of Lebanon.

Southern Lebanon: Strong warning from Israeli Defense Minister

On Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz visited a military base in southern Lebanon and issued a strongly worded warning against Hezbollah.

  • Katz’s threat:

“Right now we have taken out only the teeth of the snake. “If Hezbollah tries to advance beyond the Litani River and violate the ceasefire, we will crush its head.”

  • Stopping terrorist infrastructure in southern villages:
    • He made clear that Hezbollah will not be allowed to re-establish terrorist infrastructure in the villages of southern Lebanon.
    • Doing so could pose a major threat to northern Israeli communities.
    • Katz promised to restore security and return local residents safely to their homes.

Gaza: ceasefire talks amid attacks

On the other hand, the attacks by the Israeli Army (IDF) in Gaza are not stopping.

  • Latest attack: An Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle in Gaza City on Sunday, killing four Palestinians.
  • Terms between Israel-Hamas:
    • Israel demands: Release of 11 male hostages in the first phase of the ceasefire agreement.
    • Hamas’s condition: compensation in exchange for hostages.

Palestinian media has claimed that Israeli army attacks are continuing. However, no official statement has been given by the army on these incidents.

Israel-Hezbollah: tensions in southern Lebanon

Despite a 60-day ceasefire in the southern region of Lebanon, tensions remain between Hezbollah and Israeli forces.

  • Events at the beginning of the ceasefire:
    • In the initial days of implementation of the ceasefire, there were sporadic clashes between the two sides.
  • Local situation:
    • Currently the situation is returning to normal in southern Lebanon, but regional tensions still persist.

Israeli strategy: security and warning

Defense Minister Katz’s statements make Israel’s security priorities clear:

  1. Elimination of terrorist threats:
    • A strict policy to prevent Hezbollah from any type of activity.
  2. Safety of local residents:
    • Ensuring the safety of residents of northern Israel.
  3. Following ceasefire:
    • Adopt a firm stance to ensure that Hezbollah does not violate the ceasefire.

Possible agreement between Hamas and Israel in Gaza

Although there has been no official confirmation of direct talks between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, but according to sources, some terms of the agreement are being discussed between the two sides.

  • Israel’s priority: the safe release of the hostages.
  • Hamas demands: Agreement on compensation and other terms.
