Vidhi Jani registered a thrilling win over Celine Vekalapuddy of Canada on the second day of the ITF Tennis Tournament being run in collaboration with Gujarat Sports Authority at Ace Tennis Academy. 16-year-old Vidhi made some common mistakes in the first set as Canadian Selin won the first set 6-3, but Vidhi regained her rhythm and form and displayed aggressive serving to win the second set 6-1.

 

In the decisive tiebreaker, Vidhi cleverly put her opponent under constant pressure on every point and won 10-7. Richa Chogule made a great start to her campaign with a comfortable 6-4, 6-1 win over Lakshmi Gowda. In other matches, Bape Panwar defeated Amodini Nayak 6-3, 7-5, Sahira Singh defeated Anushka Bhola 6-4, 6-3, Joel Nicol defeated Gujarat’s Shaili Thakkar 6-2, 6-4, Chevaka Sama defeated Chandana Potugari by 6. -1, 6-4, Nemha Kispotta defeated Russia’s Valeria Monaco, Sejal Bhatuda defeated Ira Shah 7-5, 6-2, Aditi Rawat defeated Sanjana Srimala 6-2, 6-4 and Kashish Bhatia defeated Riya Sachdev. Started his campaign by defeating 6-4, 6-4. On a victorious note.
