Defending champion Janis Sinner defeated Alex De Minor in straight sets to reach the men’s singles semi-finals of the Australian Open tennis tournament. Now he will face Ben Shelton. Italy’s top seed Sinner defeated eighth seed De Minor 6-3, 6-2, 6-1.

 

Earlier, 21st seed Shelton defeated unseeded Lorenzo Sonego 6-4, 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4) to reach her first Grand Slam semi-final at Melbourne Park. Sinner has won all nine games he has played so far against the minors. The Italians have also won all the last 20 matches played against the Australians. Shelton served at 232 km/h (144 mph), the joint-fastest serve of the tournament.
