In some areas of Gujarat, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Telangana and North Karnataka, the number of hot days may be more than normal. Typically, hot waves will continue for one to three days in various parts of the country except southwest peninsular India.

 

Rain will provide relief in temperature

Mahapatra said that except for northwest, central and northeast India, most parts of the country are likely to receive more than normal rainfall. North India is expected to receive more than normal rainfall, which may be 109% higher than a long -term average of 64.1 mm. The temperature in May is unlikely to rise above the level of 2024 due to continuous storm and rain.
