Have you ever wondered why most of the recharge plans of telecom companies come with a validity of 28 days or 84 days? Why don’t companies give full 30 days validity in monthly plans? Before understanding the answer to this question, it is important to know whether these plans are beneficial for you or not. We’ll walk you through the math and why 30 day or 90 day plans may be better.

Loss in 28 day plans

Monthly prepaid plans of Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) usually have a validity of 28 days. This means that you will have to recharge 13 times in a year. There are 12 months in a year, but 28 day plans will allow 13 recharges in a year. According to mathematics:
28 x 12 = 336 days
There are 365 days in a year, so 365 – 336 = 29 days are left. In this way, companies provide extra recharge with 28 days plans, which can become an additional expense for you.

Loss even in 84 day plans

Now, if you recharge from a plan with 84 days validity, you will get 84 days validity for three months, but even after recharging four times in a year, 29 days are still left. During this time another monthly recharge has to be done. So, even if you do four recharges of 84 days, you still have to do one additional monthly recharge.

What to do?

So, if you want to control your expenses, it would be better to choose plans with validity of 30 days, 90 days or 365 days instead of plans with 28 or 84 days. This can avoid one extra recharge in a year.
