While giving a statement on Sunday, Telangana DGP Jitendra said that film personalities should understand that the safety of citizens should be their priority. The comments come after actor Allu Arjun’s press conference, in which he refuted the allegations against him over the stampede that took place during the premiere of “Pushpa 2: The Rule”.

Allu Arjun’s film “Pushpa 2: The Rule” is performing brilliantly at the box office, but the stampede at Sandhya theater has brought its success into controversy. After the death of one person and injuries to several people in the stampede, questions have been raised regarding civil security.

DGP’s message: Heroes should not be made only in films

DGP Jitendra, while talking to reporters in Karimnagar, said:

  • “Film celebrities can be heroes in films, but in real life they have to understand the problems of the society.”
  • “Promotion of a film cannot be more important than the safety of citizens.”
  • “We must recognize that such incidents are not good for the safety of society and citizens.”

Stampede during premiere: Allu Arjun’s adamant stance despite police warning

Regarding the stampede at Sandhya Theatre, police officials said that the actor was warned in advance.

  1. Was prevented from going to the theatre:
    • Chikkadappally Circle Inspector Raju Nayak said that he had refused to allow Allu Arjun to attend the premiere.
    • The officer explained to them that their presence could cause the crowd to go out of control.
  2. The manager was informed in advance:
    • ACP Ramesh said that Allu Arjun’s manager Santosh was immediately informed about the stampede and the death of one person.
    • The police also told them that the situation had gone out of control.

Insistence on finishing the film despite receiving the news

Police officials repeatedly informed the actor about the seriousness of the incident.

  • ACP Ramesh said:
    • “We have repeatedly pointed out that your presence could worsen the situation.”
    • “You should leave the theater immediately, but they said to stay until the movie is over.”
  • Allu Arjun came out of the theater only when DGP Jitendra himself intervened and gave the actor a 10-minute ultimatum.

DGP’s priority on civil security

The DGP reiterated that this incident has raised serious questions on the safety of citizens.
