Team India ended the tenure of head coach Rahul Dravid after winning the T20 World Cup title in 2024. After this Gautam Gambhir was appointed the new head coach of the team. Along with Gambhir, Abhishek Nair was made the assistant coach and former South African fast bowler Morne Morkel was made the bowling coach. Dilip will remain the fielding coach of Team India, while Ryan ten Deschate has been appointed as the second assistant coach.

Team India’s performance has been declining during Gautam Gambhir’s tenure, due to which the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is looking for a new batting coach. As soon as this news spread on social media, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen expressed his availability.

Responding to a post on social media, Kevin Pietersen wrote, “Available!” (Available!), while Team India’s recent performance has been dependent on the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah. Only Yashasvi Jaiswal has been able to do anything special in batting, while the continuous failure of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli has increased the concern for the team.

44-year-old Pietersen has played 104 Tests, 136 ODIs and 37 T20 International matches for England. He has scored 8181, 4440 and 1176 runs in his name in all three formats respectively, and has also taken 10, 7 and one wicket in all three formats.
