Teak Blocks, Furniture Worth ₹1 Crore Seized

Biaora (Rajgarh): A team of forest department raided 30 places and confiscated teak blocks and furniture worth Rs 1 crore on Sunday. The team consisted of DFOs of Guna, Rajgarh and Vidisha rangers and 300 guards, official sources said.

Rajgarh DFO Beniprasad Dotaniya said five trucks and ten small loading vehicles were brought for conducting the raids. The confiscated teak logs and furniture have been kept in an office of the forest department in Lateri from where they will be sent to the depot. To strike a severe blow to the teak smugglers, the officials made a strategy. 

The officials of Rajgarh, Guna and Vidisha forest department informed the Tendu leaf collectors about the teak smugglers. The Tendu leaf collectors were organising a workshop and sofa and tables were also put up at the stage for the purpose.

The forest officials, including the three DFOs, gathered at the spot and told them to deposit their mobile phones and informed them about the raids. Dotaniya further said 20 teams were set up to conduct raids at 30 places and confiscated a huge quantity of teak logs and furniture.

Rewa (Madhya Pradesh): Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla has announced that the Basaman Mama Gauvansh (BMG) Wildlife Sanctuary will soon become a model center for cow service. With most of the infrastructure and development nearing completion, the sanctuary aims to become self-sufficient by selling products made from cow dung and urine.

In a recent review meeting, Shukla inaugurated the Gau Karyalaya, an administrative building built at a cost of one crore rupees. He highlighted the need to maintain the groundwater level to ensure a continuous water supply to the sanctuary and instructed the filling of a nearby pond from the river.

Shukla also directed the approval of construction works for various water-related projects and a substation to ensure an uninterrupted power supply. Emphasizing the importance of cow welfare, Shukla called for a protocol to be established and urged that all protected cows be documented.

Additionally, the sanctuary will sell cow manure, which will be made available to local farmers. A biogas plant and a unit for the disposal of dead animals will also be set up soon. Shukla expressed his commitment to ensuring the sanctuary’s self-sufficiency while promoting cow service. He visited the sanctuary’s facilities, fed cows, and observed the ongoing arrangements during his stay.
