Kathmandu: ‘Nepal Teachers Association’ has announced a nationwide strike after the announcement of Nepal Education Association. Teachers in the country are demanding a new education act. According to local media reports, the purpose of the strike is to pressurize the government to fulfill its demands.

The Nepal Teachers Federation, the main organization of school teachers in Nepal, announced that teachers should close their schools and gather in Kathmandu on 9th. He was asked to participate in the performance on the 9th.

This federation has refused to check the answer sheets from the teachers. Therefore the results cannot be declared. As a result, the start of the new academic session is sure to be delayed. The federation has said that to strengthen the ongoing agitation of teachers, it has been said to strike in schools since April 7 and has asked to participate in the broad agitation on 9 April. Now the new academic session starting from April 19 has also been questioned.

Nepal’s Education Minister Vidya Bhattarai told Nepal’s leading newspaper Kathmandu Post that the government had invited him to talk several times. I personally called the President of the Federation for talks and also talked to the protesters during the demonstration, but they are not ready to hear anything. They say what will happen if we discuss it? Nothing, in fact, teachers have been gathering in Kathmandu since April 2. He does not believe the assurance of the government that it will implement this Act, as the Bill of the New Education Act has been pending in Parliament for one and a half years.
