MP: Taxi Union Stops CM Mohan Yadav’s Convoy In Pachmarhi, Seeks Action On Vehicle Registration Rule |

Bhopal/Pachmarhi (Madhya Pradesh): The convoy of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was stopped by members of the local taxi union in MP’s Pachmarhi hill station. The incident took place on Wednesday when the chief minister was there for a personal visit.

The union intended to present a memorandum regarding their grievances. On learning about the situation, the Chief Minister called two to three representatives of the union to meet him. He then accepted their memorandum and assured them that appropriate action would be taken.

According to information, the memorandum raised concerns about a directive issued by the Forest Department on December 19, 2024. The directive disallowed the registration of gipsies older than 15 years at Pachmarhi’s viewpoints. Taxi drivers expressed distress over the new rule, stating that earlier, gipsies up to 20 years old were allowed to register.

The union emphasised that no accidents involving older gipsies have occurred in Pachmarhi. They also pointed out that fitness certificates have been obtained for these vehicles from the Regional Transport Office (RTO). Drivers demanded the continuation of the 20-year registration policy for gipsies, arguing that the new rule threatens their livelihoods. The Chief Minister assured the drivers that their concerns would be reviewed and appropriate action would be taken.
