The Kalachowki police have arrested a taxi driver for molesting a 16-year-old college student. The accused made the minor sit in the front seat and molested her. An FIR has been registered against the driver – identified as Jagannath Kale, 47 – under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police said that the teenager had hailed the taxi to go to her college. While talking to her, he convinced her that she was under a magic spell and induced her to sit in the front seat with him. However, he took this chance to molest her.
The girl later told her family about it, who approached the police to register a case. The police started the investigation immediately and checked the footage from CCTV cameras along the route of the taxi.
Kale was arrested immediately and was produced before a court, which sent him to judicial custody. The police are investigating the matter further.
