Ingredients to make Lauki Rice
Main Ingredients:
- Bottle gourd: 1 medium size
- Rice: 1 cup
- Curd: 1 cup
For tempering:
- Desi Ghee: 2-3 spoons
- Cumin: 1 teaspoon
- Curry leaves: 8-10 leaves
- Red chilli: 1-2 dry
- Garlic: 4-5 cloves (finely chopped)
How to make Lauki Rice
- Prepare the gourd:
- Peel the bottle gourd and wash it well.
- Grate it finely with the help of a grater.
- Cook rice and gourd:
- Heat desi ghee in a kadai or pan.
- Add cumin seeds to it and temper it.
- Then add grated bottle gourd and fry on low flame.
- On the other hand, wash the rice thoroughly and mix it with the bottle gourd in the pan.
- Add water and spices:
- Add water as required and salt as per taste in the mixture.
- Cover it and let it cook on low flame.
- Both rice and gourd will cook together.
- Mix curd:
- When the rice and bottle gourd are completely cooked, turn off the gas.
- Add 3-4 spoons of whipped curd and mix well.
- Add tempering:
- Heat desi ghee in a small pan.
- Add finely chopped garlic to it and fry until it becomes light golden.
- Now add asafoetida, curry leaves, and red chili.
- Let it cook for half a minute and then pour the prepared tadka on gourd rice.
- Serve and enjoy:
- Your tasty and healthy gourd rice is ready.
