Dhanbad, 2 December (Hindustan Reporter). The encroachment on the land of various ponds and rivers and streams of the district and other water sources will be identified and action will be taken to remove them immediately. In this regard, this decision has been taken by organizing a meeting of the task force under the chairmanship of Deputy Development Commissioner Saadat Anwar in the auditorium of the Collectorate on Monday to conserve water sources and free them from encroachment and pollution.

During this, the Deputy Development Commissioner said that as per the instructions of the Urban Development and Housing Department, the size of all the water sources in the urban area will be marked on the basis of their original map to remove encroachment around the water sources and to prevent pollution. After this, encroachment and illegal construction on the land of water sources and the government land around it will also be identified. After this, action will be taken to remove the encroachment as per the rules. If any illegal settlement has been made on the land of any water source or the government land around it, then immediate action will be taken against that illegal settlement as per the rules and a proposal will be made to cancel the illegal settlement.

In the meeting, he said that in order to free the water sources, rivers, drains and ponds from pollution, concrete action will also be taken to stop the flow of solid or liquid waste material in water sources by declaring it a punishable offence. He said that the area freed from encroachment will be clearly demarcated, so that it can be easily identified if encroachment occurs again. Besides, accountability will also be fixed for keeping it encroachment free.
