Palghar: A tragic accident occurred in Manor in Palghar district, on Sunday when a tanker fell off a bridge, killing its driver, Ashish Kumar Yadav (29). The tanker, which was carrying base oils, was travelling on the Mumbai-Gujarat route when it veered off the bridge and landed on the service road near Manor Junction, as per reports.
A video posted on X by journalist Vishal Singh shows the exact moments of the horrific crash. In the video, one can see the oil-filled tanker falling off from the bridge. Three to four men can be seen running for their lives as they escape death narrowly when the heavy tanker comes down out of nowhere.
The Manor police confirmed that Yadav succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Although the accident spilled hundreds of liters of thick black oil across the junction, no secondary mishaps occurred. Fortunately, no other individuals were injured in the incident, reported Times of India.
Taxi Driver & Passenger Killed In High-Speed Collision In Dadar
In a separate incident on March 29, a taxi driver and a woman passenger lost their lives in a high-speed collision on the Elphinstone flyover in Dadar. The victims, identified as Shankar Goliwada (65) and Rekha Parmar (55), were killed when a speeding car veered into the wrong lane and crashed into their taxi.
According to police reports, the accident occurred around 1:35 pm when Priyanshu Bandre (21), a college student from Matunga, was driving recklessly from Elphinstone Bridge towards Dadar Railway Station. His vehicle suddenly crossed into the opposite lane, directly colliding with the oncoming taxi.
Police Investigation & Legal Action
Following the accident, local police, traffic officials and fire brigade personnel arrived at the scene. The damaged vehicles were cleared from the road using a crane and the victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Eyewitnesses reported that Bandre was driving at an extremely high speed and suddenly changed direction, causing the crash. While the police have filed a case against him for reckless driving and causing death, they have yet to confirm whether he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident.
DCP (Zone 5) Ganesh Gawade assured that an investigation is underway, and further details will be revealed as the case progresses. The accident temporarily disrupted traffic on the flyover, but normal flow was restored with the help of traffic police.
