Tensions between China and Taiwan once again seem to be increasing. China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has started a large -scale military exercise near Taiwan. Taiwan has also reacted strongly to this action of China.

The Chinese army on Tuesday conducted massive military exercises in water and airspaces around Taiwan. According to Shi Yi, a spokesman of the Eastern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army, this military exercise included the Navy, Air Force and Rocket Force and aims to give a strict warning to Taiwan’s freedom. Now Taiwan’s response to this Chinese military exercise has also come to light.

Taiwan protested.

The Taiwan’s President’s Office said in a post on X, “China’s strong military abolition not only threatens peace in Taiwan Strait, but also security in the entire region has become weak.” We strongly condemn China’s aggressive behavior.

Taiwan is watching.

Taiwan’s Defense Minister Wellington Ku said, “I want to say that this action can destroy regional peace and stability.” Ku said that Taiwan has set up a central group to monitor such exercises. Taiwan is monitoring every action of China.

The purpose of China’s military exercise

At the same time, the Chinese news agency ‘Xinhua’ said in a report that the Eastern Theater Command has done extensive practice in the north, south and east of Taiwan Island. The command stated that the purpose of military exercises was “to test the capabilities of soldiers to perform coordinated operations, acquire operations and accurate attacks”.

China considers Taiwan its part.

Meanwhile, let us also tell you here that China considers Taiwan a part of its mainland. China has conducted many such military exercises in recent times, but this is the first major military exercise around Taiwan since taking over as US President Donald Trump.
