T20 Mumbai League: The list of icon players for the much awaited T20 Mumbai League 2025, announced by the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), included eight players who have played for the country, including Indian T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer and Ajinkya Rahane. The T20 Mumbai League is making a comeback after a six-year gap. Its third session will be held from 26 May to 8 June at the Wankhede Stadium. Apart from Suryakumar, Rahane and Iyer, icon players include Sarfaraz Khan, Shardul Thakur, Prithvi Shaw, Shivam Dubey and Tushar Deshpande.
MCA President Ajinkya Naik said, “We are happy to announce eight prestigious players who have made Mumbai proud at the domestic and international level.” They represent the spirit, heritage and excellence of Mumbai cricket. He said that his presence will not only inspire and guide the emerging talents, but will also provide him a great opportunity to learn. Each franchise will be allowed to choose an icon player in their team, which will give the teams both experience and star power. The MCA will soon announce the auction date. Eight franchise teams are participating in this T20 league.
Mandatory participation of Indian players in T20 Mumbai League
The Mumbai Cricket Association has made it mandatory for all its Indian players to participate in the T20 Mumbai League. The Mumbai Cricket Association recently declared India’s ODI and Test captain Rohit Sharma the face of his T20 Mumbai League. An MCA official said that all the Indian players playing for Mumbai have been told that they will have to play in the T20 Mumbai League, which will start after the IPL. This will be mandatory except those players who are committed to India or injured.
Eight franchises in T20 Mumbai League
T20 Mumbai League 2025 is attended by North Mumbai Panthers, Triumph Nights Mumbai North East, ARCS Andheri, Namo Bandra Blasters, Akash Tigers Mumbai Western Sub -Aarbs, Eagle Thane Strikers, Sobo Mumbai Falcons and Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals.
