Mumbai: Synergy Marine Group has been named Crewing Company of the Year at the 11th International Samudra Manthan Awards 2024 for its swift and compassionate response to the “DALI” incident earlier this year.
About The Award
The award, presented on November 21 at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre, recognises Synergy’s exemplary handling of the maritime crisis near the Francis Scott Key Bridge on March 26. The company’s Emergency Response Team worked closely with authorities, prioritised crew welfare, and maintained transparency throughout the incident. An injured crew member received immediate medical care with support from the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., while the families of crew members in India and Sri Lanka were kept informed about the ongoing developments. Synergy also took care of the meals, deployed additional personnel onboard, and ensured open communication between crew members and their loved ones.
Eleven crew members remain in Baltimore to assist with an ongoing investigation into the incident, expected to conclude in early 2025. Synergy continues to support them with accommodation, regular check-ins, and practical assistance.

“This has been a challenging period, but the unwavering support from Synergy’s team ashore has made a significant difference for the crew,” said a maritime expert familiar with the case. Captain Anshul Rajvanshi, Managing Director of Synergy Maritime Recruitment Services, said the award is a testament to the company’s dedication to crew welfare.
“This recognition honours the resilience and professionalism of our teams at sea and ashore,” he said. Maneesh Pradhan, also a Managing Director at SMRSPL, added: “This accolade reflects the collaborative efforts of our entire team and the unwavering trust of our partners in the maritime community.”
About Synergy’s Initiatives
Synergy’s initiatives, including Kaushal Vikas (Skill Development) and Harit Sagar Surakshit Sagar (Green Ocean, Safe Sea), also contributed to its recognition. These programs focus on upskilling seafarers, mental health support, and sustainable practices. As the investigation into the “DALI” incident continues, Synergy’s response remains a model for best practices in crisis management and crew welfare.
The industry too has lauded the efforts made by Synergy in the time of crisis. Captain Vivek Bhandarkar, CEO of Bhandarkar Publications, hailed Synergy’s efforts, calling their response a benchmark in crew welfare. “Synergy truly embodies the spirit of seafarers—resilient, united, and always ready to rise to challenges,” he said.
