The Indian cricket team’s homecoming plans have been disrupted with the Sydney Test ending in just three days. India’s two-month-long tour of Australia was to end on 7 January, and the team was to return to India on 8 January. However, due to the early end of the match, the players and support staff are now staying in Australia. BCCI is arranging the return tickets, and as soon as the tickets become available, the players’ return home will begin.

Defeat in Border-Gavaskar series, Australia captures title

The Indian team had to face defeat 1-3 in the 5-match Border-Gavaskar Test series. With this victory, Australia captured this prestigious trophy after 10 years.

Team India waiting for tickets

According to a Times of India report, the Indian team is making arrangements for tickets to return home. As per the previously decided plan, the players were to fly out on January 8. But with the matches ending early, refunds now depend on when tickets become available.

  • Some senior players may leave for India on Monday.
  • The return of other team members may happen in batches, as everyone has to go to different places.

Work continues on management and logistics

A source close to the development said:
“The logistics manager is busy arranging tickets for the team. The players will be released as soon as tickets are available.”

This means that all the players will not return to India together. The team members reached Australia in different batches in the second week of November. Virat Kohli was the first player to reach Australia on 10 November.

Highlights of the tour and the team’s visit

  • Perth Test: The Indian team played the match simulation in Perth and started the tour with a bang, winning the first Test by 295 runs.
  • Pink Ball Test: For this the team practiced in Canberra.
  • Adelaide: The team reached here for the second test.
  • Sydney followed by Brisbane and Melbourne: The team traveled over 7700 kilometers across these cities.

Waiting for the return of media and fans

Along with the players, the management, media, and fans are also waiting to return to India as soon as possible. But this will depend on how quickly the tickets become available.
