Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The ground verification and survey process for Swachh Survekshan-2024 has begun in Bhopal, with the Delhi survey team arriving on Friday to kick off the cleanliness survey in the city.
The team began its first phase at Kolar, followed by areas of Bawaria Kala and Shahpura. The initial survey will continue for over a week. Swachh Survekshan, the world’s largest cleanliness competition, is being conducted across India, with Madhya Pradesh participating enthusiastically.
The cleanliness survey evaluates three key aspects: basic cleanliness preparations, open defecation-free status (ODF++) and sewage disposal systems, alongside star rating for garbage-free cities.
In Madhya Pradesh, testing of basic cleanliness preparations has already been completed in 269 cities, with teams moving on to remaining locations.
Following this, tests for ODF++ and Water+ certifications, along with star ratings for garbage-free cities, will be conducted. The state has seen a significant improvement in urban cleanliness, thanks to consistent efforts from urban bodies throughout the year.
An effective system for regular waste collection, transportation and disposal ensures cleaner cities. After achieving the success of open defecation ban, the state is now focusing on obtaining ODF++ and Water+ certificates for cities.
The Urban Administration and Housing Department continues to encourage citizens, youth and public representatives to participate in this cleanliness drive, which is transforming cities and showcasing the success of the government’s initiatives.
