Indore (Madhya Pradesh): In a bid to ensure Indore bags cleanest city title for the eighth consecutive year, a cleanliness march was taken out from Raj Mohalla to Rajwada on Sunday.
The march was led by municipal commissioner Shivam Verma, with significant participation from sanitation workers, employees union officials, and municipal staff. The march, which aimed at fostering public awareness about the importance of cleanliness, saw a large turnout, including Safai Kamgar Union president Liladhar Karosia and several union members, such as Babulal Sirsia, Tony Sirsia, Mahesh Tomar and Subhash Dholpure.
The march was sending a message to the masses for the collective effort for maintaining the city’s No 1 cleanliness ranking. Verma took the opportunity to urge citizens to cooperate with the cleanliness initiatives. He emphasised that sustained citizen involvement and heightened awareness would play a crucial role in ensuring Indore’s continued success in cleanliness.
“Support from every resident will help us keep Indore at the top of cleanliness rankings,” Verma stated. Karosia highlighted the importance of the march, saying it was organised to create greater awareness about cleanliness and encourage citizens to pay their pending taxes to the municipal corporation. He stressed that timely tax payments were essential for maintaining the city’s cleanliness infrastructure.
