Mumbai Accident News: SUV Crashes On Bandra Worli Sealink Causing Traffic Jam, Normalcy Restored After 2 Hours; Watch Video |

Mumbai: A car crash took place on Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, leading to traffic congestion for nearly two hours. The accident reportedly involved a white Skoda SUV that hit an object from the front, resulting in damage and halting traffic flow on the northbound lane of the Sea Link.

Following the incident, visuals from the site surfaced on social media, showing Mumbai Police and traffic personnel working to remove the damaged vehicle and restore normal movement on the busy route.

Initially, the Mumbai Traffic Police issued a post alerting commuters about the delay: “Traffic Movement Is Slow At Worli Sealink North Bound Due To Car Accident.” Later, a follow-up message confirmed, “Now Traffic Is Clear,” indicating that the route had been fully reopened.

Traffic Restored After Nearly 2 Hours

According to the social media updates, it took nearly 2 hours to clear the road and restore the traffic. There are no confirmed reports of any casualties in the crash.

4-Car Collision Reported In December 2024

A similar incident was reported on the sea bridge in December last year. On December 13, four vehicles collided due to overspeeding during the afternoon hours. While there were no injuries in that case either, the impact caused substantial damage to the vehicles involved and resulted in temporary traffic snarls until the wreckage was cleared.

The Worli Police filed a case against an Innova driver, identified as Kishor Shirwadkar, based on a complaint by a police officer present at the scene. According to the investigation, the accident occurred around 11:30 am when Shirwadkar’s speeding Innova rear-ended a Skoda, which in turn hit another vehicle, setting off a chain reaction that led to a fourth car also being damaged.

Police teams had promptly responded to the earlier crash, securing the scene and initiating an inquiry. The sequence of events was reconstructed using eyewitness accounts and preliminary forensics, resulting in formal charges being filed against the Innova driver.

While both incidents ended without fatalities, they serve as reminders of the risks associated with overspeeding and the need for heightened caution on high-speed corridors like the Sea Link. Authorities continue to investigate the latest crash, though early reports suggest no foul play or serious harm.
