TSTP Project Tender Process: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) on Thursday suspended the tender process of the Tertiary Sewage Treatment Plant (TSTP) and Water Supply Network Project due to several irregularities in its preparations. - According to SMC documents, the project includes development of a 200 MLD TSTP at Ashram and supply of industrial-grade water to ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AMNSI), Hazira, as well as maintenance of the plant for five years.
- The second part of the project involves laying of 1800 mm diameter pipeline from TSTP pumping station to AMNSI and maintaining it for five years.
- The third tender was for laying a 1600 mm pipeline from Variav Kosad Sewage Treatment Plant to Ashram TSTP to supply secondary treated waste water and maintain it for five years.

The tender proposals were filed and set aside by the SMC, and reported to the standing committee on Thursday. From an initial amount of Rs. The cost overrun of over Rs 700 attracted the attention of some senior SMC officials, following which a preliminary inquiry was ordered. On the basis of the investigation report, Municipal Commissioner Shalini Aggarwal has suspended Executive Engineer Ketan Desai.
