Fawad Khan is all set to make his Bollywood comeback with a movie titled Abir Gulaal which also stars Vaani Kapoor in the lead role. However, the film has been facing controversies as a couple of political parties are not happy with Pakistani actors working in Hindi films again. On Friday, at an event, Sushmita Sen spoke about Fawad and other actors from the neighboring country working in Indian films.
When she was asked that Pakistani actors were not allowed to work in Indian films earlier, but now, Fawad is making a comeback, the actress said, “Mujhe yeh pata hai ke hunar aur creativity mein koi boundaries nahi hoti; honi bhi nahi chahiye. Hamari creative field hai, jaha par our creativity is born from freedom, so I wish that for everyone. There is no sarhad for that (I know that there are no boundaries in talent and creativity; there shouldn’t be. In creative field, creativity is born from freedom, so I wish that for everyone. There is no barrier for that).”

When the former Miss Universe was asked whether she would like to do a Pakistani film if offered, she said, “I will always do a good film. It doesn’t matter where it comes from.” Netizens are very happy with Sushmita’s answers.
Abir Gulaal Controversy
After the Uri attack in 2016, political parties banned Pakistani artists from working in India. However, in 2023, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea seeking a ban on Pakistani artists from working in India, and later, in 2024, Abir Gulaal with Fawad in the lead role was announced.
However, a couple of political parties, especially in Maharashtra, have opposed Fawad’s casting in the film, and they have stated that they will protest against the film, and won’t allow its screening in the state.
Abir Gulaal Release Date
Abir Gulaal is a romantic film directed by Aarti S. Bagdi. The first teaser of the movie had grabbed everyone’s attention, and Indian fans of Fawad are super excited about the film. It also stars Jawan fame Ridhi Dogra in a pivotal role.
The movie is slated to release on May 9, 2025.
