Team India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav hilariously stated that Rohit Sharma has put him under pressure to win the next T20 World Cup by ushering the Men in Blue to glory last year. However, the right-handed batter admitted that three stars instead of two on their jersey will feel a lot better.

Rohit became the second Indian skipper after MS Dhoni to lead India to T20 World Cup victory as he did so last year in Barbados in the thrilling final against South Africa. In the process, India also ended their 11-year ICC Trophy drought and won their first T20 World Cup since the year 2007.

Speaking in a video uploaded by Star Sports, Suryakumar, who played an integral role in India’s T20 World Cup victory last year, stated when the anchor reminded that India will co-host the next edition in 2026.

“Rohit bhai ne pressure daal diya abhi jeet ke 2024 mein.” (Rohit bhai has put pressure on me by winning the trophy in 2024).

India yet to lose a T20I series since Suryakumar Yadav became full-time T20I captain

Meanwhile, the Asian Giants haven’t lost a series since Suryakumar became the full-time T20I captain. He started his tenure by defeating Sri Lanka and Bangladesh with a 3-0 scoreline. The Men in Blue defeated the Proteas with a margin of 3-1 in an away four-game T20I series, followed by smashing England 4-1 at home.

The Mumbai-born cricketer will also lead the Mumbai Indians in their opening game of IPL 2025 due to Hardik Pandya serving a one-match ban, owing to slow over-rate in the five-time champions’ final match of the 2024 edition.
