Former Indian team cricketer Suresh Raina believes that the team captained by Rohit Sharma has the full potential to repeat the 2013 Champions Trophy victory. India won the Champions Trophy that year by defeating England under the leadership of MS Dhoni. Recently, chief selector and captain Rohit Sharma announced the 15-member squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan and UAE from February 19.

Suresh Raina, who played in the 2013 Champions Trophy, described the current team as strong, but he questioned the absence of Suryakumar Yadav and called him an important player. Suryakumar will captain the Indian team in the five-match T20 series against England starting from January 22.

Raina told Times of India, “India looks a strong team. I am confident that Rohit will lead the team to victory. But I am shocked by Suryakumar’s exclusion. India will lose that X factor in the middle order. We have seen Surya’s performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup; He was scoring runs all over the field. That’s why he is called ‘Mr. 360’. His sweep shot is fantastic and he is a game changer. He should have been in the team.”
